Principal Message
Dear Families,
It has been brought to my attention that many students are wearing "Smart Watches" to school.
Whilst I can appreciate that parents may wish their child to have a "Smart Watch" or phone with them so that they can communicate with their parent after school or in the case of an emergency etc. it has become apparent students are using them during school hours.
It would seem students are accessing their Smart Watches to send messages during the day to either family members or other students and are taking unsolicited photos of students, class and staff. All of which is highly inappropriate.
As a consequence students will NOT be allowed to wear Smart Watches whilst at school. Students who do wear a "Smart Watch" to school will need to hand it in at the Office when arriving to school and they can then collect the watch as they leave the school in the afternoon (same applies for phones).
Students who fail to hand their "Smart Watch" in will receive a lunch time detention.
Parents / Families who wish to get a message to your child can use the communication channels provided by the school.
The appropriate usage of Smart Watches by students within the school has now been included into our School Technology Policy and Parent Handbook.
St Ambrose Primary School values and promotes the use of technology - importantly it promotes the correct usage i.e. within an educational setting and in a socially responsible manner.
Thank you for your understanding.

Year 3 Excursion
On Wednesday, Year 3 took a long bus ride on a sensational excursion to Jellurgal Cultural Centre in Burleigh heads. We first saw cool paintings and amazing artefacts and then we watched a fantastic video that taught us about amazing Aboriginal culture.
Next we went on a nature walk across Burleigh Headland, it was so beautiful and sunny. Our guide walked us to a historical mountain told us a dreamtime about a giant that loved to eat, sleep and swim. Then he slept on a grassland and eventually he turned into a mountain.
Finally we went down to the creek and we put ocher on our faces, legs and arms just like the Aboriginals did, it was fantastic. We walked along a bushy track back to the cultural centre and had some yummy lunch then the bus took us back to school. We would like to thank Mr Bottle, Mr Mac, Mrs Bressan and Kirsty Bolger for helping us on our excursion. It was such a great experience and we learnt so much about the importance of Aboriginal culture in our area.
