Principal Message
Dear Families,
Welcome back to Term 3.
As you would be well aware the Olympic Games are currently taking place. The Games exemplify the best of humanity by showcasing unity, sportsmanship, and the pursuit of excellence. Athletes from diverse backgrounds come together to compete, demonstrating dedication, resilience, and respect. Hopefully the actions of these athletes will inspire generations to achieve their fullest potential. In many ways the Games reflect what we also strive to achieve at St Ambrose - trying your best to fulfil your potential and demonstrating respect, responsibility and being courageous! To celebrate the significance of the Games and the values that it represents, the school will conduct a Mini Olympics Fun Day on Friday 9th of August. More information will be sent out via Compass.
At the end of last term the school received the results from the Tell Them From Me Survey - thank you to the 63 families that responded. At one of our recent Staff Development Days the staff spent a session reviewing the data received from Students, Staff and Families. In reposes to this, in each upcoming newsletter an article will be presented that will analyse some of the data received. This will include areas of commendation and areas for development as outlined in the data. With the comments received from families, as you could imagine, these were wide and varied. Comments that had a common theme will also be shared and addressed in the newsletter. As the parent comments were anonymous it is impossible to respond individually, therefore the school will be establishing opportunities for families to meet with the School Leadership Team to raise any concerns, put forward suggestions or provide clarification. In addition to this families can contact the Parent Forum if they would like a matter raised - stambrosepf@gmail.com
This week the school has participated in an External School Review. This was carried out be ACER (Australian College of Educational Research). This is an independent body that has develop a School Improvement Tool that is used not only in Australia but in various other countries to support schools win determining areas for Commendation, Affirmation and Recommendations and will provide key information in the school developing a three year Strategic Plan. These finding will be shared with the school community in the upcoming weeks.
Our next Parent Forum meeting will be held on Tuesday 6th August, commencing at 6.00p.m. Once again this will be live streamed via Facebook. At this meeting we will unpack the new structure of the Parent Forum and look at upcoming events. If you have any agenda items please forward these through to stambrosepf@gmail.com
Be sure to keep an eye on our school calendar for upcoming events e.g.
- Yr 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 planned excursions

Saint Mary of The Cross Mackillop
Thursday 8th August marks the anniversary of the death of Mary Mackillop and the Feast Day of Australia’s first Saint. Although her death occurred more than a century ago, she continues to inspire men, women, and children. Saint Mary Mackillop was a co-founder of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart, and was a tireless advocate of education and schools. Saint Mary Mackillop had a vision of a better world for all.
With patience, a forgiving heart, and trust in God, she managed to overcome whatever obstacles that came her way.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
A JOURNEY OF FAITH
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
Since Jesus invited His first followers to “Come, follow me”, the image of journey has been used to describe Christian discipleship.
Perhaps you or someone you know are interested in being baptised, or were baptised in another Christian faith but are interested in becoming Catholic.
The RCIA provides a setting where the Catholic faith can be explored and the journey of faith can be celebrated within the local Church community.
An RCIA Enquiry Night will be held on Tuesday, 20th August, 6.30pm, in the Parish Meeting Room at St Anthony’s Church (located behind the Presbytery, northern side of the church). You are most welcome to come along to learn about the process, there is no obligation to commit. If you would like further information contact Catherine Holliday in the Parish Office on 6674 1284 or email pa@stanthonysparishkingscliff.org
