Principal's Message
Dear Families,
Welcome to the 2022 school year. I trust the holidays provided you with an opportunity to spend time with family and friends and enjoy the beautiful area in which we live. I would like in particular to welcome all of our new families and in particular our Kindergarten students who joined us this year. It is always a delight to see the excitement and enthusiasm of our Kinders as they commence their journey here at St Ambrose.
I would also like to welcome our new staff this year:
Miss Lauren Ayres (Yr 4G), Mrs Jo Ryan (Additional Needs Teacher), Mrs Daina Hogan (Drama Teacher) & Mrs Kelly Pears (Yr 2T) teacher. Whilst not new, but moving into different teaching roles are Miss Annika Dicker (KT) and Mrs Megan Lowe (Yr 1T).
It has certainly been a "different' start to the year with our school swimming carnival being held last Wednesday which was followed by a day of student assessment and a Staff Development Day. Having to follow the directives of the Catholic Schools Office and with Covid restrictions and very limited access to the Murwillumbah Aquatic Centre and knowing the Zone swimming trials were to be held today (11th Feb) we had little choice. In saying this our swimming carnival went ahead and was very successful - a big thank you to all those boys and girls who participated and gave their best. Can I please remind you to follow our school calendar closely at this will inform you of all upcoming school events.
Finally, over the next two weeks the school will be conducting it's Parent Information evenings. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child's teacher and get an insight into your child's class for 2022.
Hopefully 2002 will be the year were we are restored to some normality.
Best Wishes,
Brian Laybutt
Principal

Bus Safety: Flashing Lights Campaign
Families can help keep children safe by:
- Sticking to the speed limit and following the road rules in school zones
- Slowing down to 40km/h when bus lights are flashing
- Looking out for children crossing the road near bus stops, in school zones or along bus routes
- Giving way to buses when they merge back into traffic.
- Never drop off or meet children on the opposite side of the road to the bus stop or call them across the road. Always drop them off or meet them on the same side of the road as the bus stop.
- Encouraging their children to be distraction-free around buses - put down their phone and take off their headphones.
