Newsletter Week 6, Term 4 2021
Principal's Message
Dear Families,
Term 4 is always a very busy term and the school is navigating itself through the various restrictions.
On Monday and Tuesday next week the Kindergarten Orientation days will be held. A parent evening will be conducted on Monday night for all families (Covid restrictions apply). We look forward to welcoming Kinder 2022 and our new families to our school!!
As part of our school well being program each term students are given a short survey that they complete which provides important information pertaining to their individual well being. Teachers are able review this data and identify individual needs and needs of a particular group/cohort.
Following this we are able to then implement programs and support as required. If concerning information is brought to the attention of teachers, families are notified. Importantly, the school views these measures as a preventative action as it provides important information in planning for future programs.
SCHOOL CAMPS:
The following advice was issued to all schools on the 3rd November, 2021:
From 8th November (Week 6):
All schools will operate on updated Level 3 settings for the rest of Term 4, with additional activities allowed in a COVID-safe manner.
Excursions and incursions
Excursions will be allowed outdoors and indoors if the class cohort has sole use of the venue. Transportation to and from venues must maintain class cohorts.
Incursions will be allowed indoors or outdoors in cohorts. Any visitors on site to support incursions must be fully vaccinated and will be required to check in using the school check-in app and show proof of vaccination status on entry to the school site.
Overnight camps or retreats are not permitted.
As result, regrettably, all of the school camps that we had rescheduled are not permitted.
I can fully appreciate the disappointment that the students would be feeling in not being able to attend a school camp.
In an attempt to compensate the Year 4 to 6 students for not attending a school camp the school has arranged a number of fun activities for the students. These include kayaking, paddle boarding, beach games and dance fever activities and much more. For further details refer to information within this newsletter.
Regarding “End of Year” activities, please refer to the school calendar for upcoming events.
Kind Regards,
Brian Laybutt
Principal
Religious News
Dear Families,
It is time for our St Ambrose Christmas Appeal for 2021 to begin. With the Christmas period fast approaching it is important that we keep in mind those families who have had a tough year for many different reasons.
Christmas is a time for hope and joy. To help spread happiness to those in need we are asking that students could buy a small gift to donate such as:
- A packet of coloured pencils
- Colouring Books
- Pens
- A packet of Textas
- Rulers
- Note books
- Fidget toys such as Pop-Its, Fidget Spinners
- Cute key rings for school bags
We ask that these gifts please be new items rather than second hand. Please do not wrap these presents. The Mini Vinnies team will organise this at the end. A basket has been delivered to each classroom and these will be in there until Week 8 of this term. Thank you for all of your support.

Parent Forum
A huge thank you to the entire school community for your support of the 2021 Monster raffle. We raised just over $10000- a monster effort! Congratulations to all the prize winners and students and class who sold the most tickets. A big shout out to all the local businesses for their generous support of the 2021 Monster raffle also. Without your support, we wouldn’t have such ‘Monster’ prizes to win!
We celebrated and thanked our wonderful St Ambrose teachers on world teachers day. The Parent Forum treated staff to a lovely morning tea and gave all staff a small gift to show how much the school community truely value their daily efforts and positive impact they have on our children’s lives. Our students sure do have #brightfutures.
We are looking forward to seeing new and enthusiastic faces at our 2022 St Ambrose Fair meeting on Wednesday 17.11.21 @ 6pm at the Pottsville sports club. Everyone welcome to come and offer ideas and support for the event.
2022 shout out! We are gathering momentum towards 2022 and keeping our hopes high that we will be able to gather again in person. Please keep your eyes out for Parent Forum gathering/ meeting dates. We would love to new faces and old faces return to the Parent Forum body.
Keep safe and well.
