Newsletter Week 1, Term 4 2022
Principal Message
Dear Families,
Welcome to Term 4, 2022.
Term 4 is always an incredibly busy term so I would encourage you to have a look at the School Calendar so you are aware of what is approaching.
Today we had our SCHOOL TALENT QUEST, which provided a fabulous concert whereby students could display a wide range of talents and skills.
Of course the BIG event was the Splash & Dash. An enormous thank you to our Parent Forum who coordinated this event and provided an experience that will be remembered for a loooong time!!
Next week Year 5 are heading off on school camp - I am sure that they will have a wonderful time. Congratulations to our Year 6 and 4 students who went on their respective school camps, from all reports they had a wonderful time and their behaviour was exemplary!!
Book Week is fast approaching, this week is full of wonderful events - Guest Speakers, Book Parade and the eagerly awaited Grandparents & Friends Day.
Don't forget that on Wednesday 26th October the school will be running an evening on "Social Media Security". Baby sitting will be provided for those who require this. The night starts at 6.30pm and runs for just over an hour. I strongly encourage all families to attend.
Have a great Term 4.
Regards,
Brian Laybutt

SCHOOL CAR PARK
A big thank you to the motorists who are arriving in the afternoon and following the new guideline of parking before 3.00pm. Since this has been operational we now do not have a queue of cars blocking Charles St off before 3.00p.m. Cars are now able to access the school before 3.00p.m. and park in the carpark. Pete our Road Traffic Manager has informed me that the amount of motorists overtaking in Charles St has almost diminished.Clearly overtaking a queue of cars in Charles St is highly dangerous and illegal (overtaking on double yellow lines and on a Pedestrian Crossing!!).Promoting and creating a safe environment for all children and families is our number one priority!
THANK YOU!!!

STAFF DEVELOPMENT DAYS
Thursday 10th November - Wk 5 Term 4
Friday 11th November - Wk 5 Term 4
As previously mentioned the Catholic Schools Office recently informed all schools that we will need to conduct a Staff Development Day so as to ensure the full implementation of the new K-2 English Syllabus next year. This must be conducted post Week 5 Term 4.- as this is when the course contents will be made available. The school had already set aside a Staff Development Day for the 11th November. Whilst not ideal in having an additional Staff Development so late in the year, I have spoken to a number of families in trying to determine when is the best time to have it. It would seem that having it on the Thursday prior to the existing Staff Development Day was the best option. This will now mean that the school will be conducting Staff Development Days (pupil Free) on Thursday 10th Nov and Friday 11th Nov. I apologise for any inconvenience, I have informed our Before & After School Care provider - "Little Grommets" and they will be taking students on the day.
School Fee Reminder
Term 4 School Fees have now been issued and were due by the 10th October 2022, please make sure your account is upto date or call the office to discuss 02 6676 0099.
Thank you

16th October St Ambrose School, Pottsville
SCHOOL FAMILY/ PARISH MASS CELEBRATION 7.30AM
We hope to see many St Ambrose families SUNDAY at this Mass celebration.
At this Mass celebration staff from St Ambrose will be attending to the ministry duties and there will be children’s liturgy.
Family Groups
Fr Ray Sanchez, a dedicated member of the Passionist Family Group Movement, is visiting our parish for the whole weekend on 15/16 October. He will be celebrating at the Parish/School Masses and sharing with us the joy and sense of belonging that can be experienced through being part of a Family Group.
WHO CAN JOIN A FAMILY GROUP? ANYONE! Seniors, Young, Catholic or not, Married, Single, Widowed or Divorced - EVERYONE! Family Groups do not need to cut across existing friendships. Rather they add a new dimension to parish life which allows non-Catholic spouses, inactive Catholics and those who do not feel they truly “belong” to become part of your parish community. Family Groups provide a non-threatening atmosphere so that this can happen in a gentle way. There is no catch — we are just being what the church should be — family for each other Family Groups strive to meet the needs of the heart rather than the head and all Family Group activities are aimed at no cost or low cost, so that everyone can be included. Think about joining and tell your friends about it.
After the Sunday Masses (7:30am & 9:00am) next Sunday, there will be a morning tea—there will be current family group members there to answer any questions.
This was how the Church first began
This is what it can be now

OCTOBER: The month of THE HOLY ROSARY
October 13 - National Day of the Rosary
By tradition, the Catholic Church dedicates the month of October to the holy Rosary, one of the best known of all Catholic devotions. October includes the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary (October 7). The best way to celebrate the month is, of course, to pray the Rosary. Prayer is a way to help us get in touch with God and to develop a relationship with him. In prayer, we not only talk with God, but God communicates with us, as we continue to pray, our relationship with God grows.
At school students will have the opportunity to experience walking/praying the Rosary in an indoor or outdoor quiet, reflective atmosphere within the school grounds.
