2022, Term 3, Week 9
4 Gold Assembly
Principal Message
Dear Families,
Finally after two years of Covid-9 we have our Yr 6 students heading to Sydney/Canberra for the 4 day excursion and Yr 4 heading to Camp Goodenough for a two night three day adventure. I am sure they will all have a wonderful time and bring back long lasting memories.
I would like to congratulate Mason and Ayla in Year 6 who were recently selected in the Polding Athletics squad, this is an amazing achievement! They will be both heading to Homebush shortly to compete in the State Championships.
Also a big congratulations to Miss King who was selected as an Australian coach for the upcoming u/18 Surf Life Saving Championships to be held in Italy next week. Buon viaggio!
Lost property; close to 50 school jackets have been recovered around the school. While most have names on them, many do not. Please ensure that all items of clothing are clearly labelled for easy identification.
Many of our foundation Yr 6 students from 2016 will be graduating from Yr 12 next week. I have included a picture of the class. Please keep these children in your prayers as they prepare for their HSC and the world that awaits.
Our Splash & Dash fundraiser is powering along. Many thanks for your support.
With the last week of school upon us, the students will be preparing for the school holidays. A reminder that the last day of Term 3 is Wednesday 21st September.
Have a great weekend!
Kind Regards,
Brian Laybutt

REMINDER
As previously mentioned the Catholic Schools Office recently informed all schools that we will need to conduct a Staff Development Day so as to ensure the full implementation of the new K-2 English Syllabus next year. This must be conducted post Week 5 Term 4.- as this is when the course contents will be made available. The school had already set aside a Staff Development Day for the 11th November. Whilst not ideal in having an additional Staff Development so late in the year, I have spoken to a number of families in trying to determine when is the best time to have it. It would seem that having it on the Thursday prior to the existing Staff Development Day was the best option. This will now mean that the school will be conducting Staff Development Days (pupil Free) on Thursday 10th Nov and Friday 11th Nov. I apologise for any inconvenience, I have informed our Before & After School Care provider - "Little Grommets" and they will be taking students on the day.

SUNDAY 16TH OCTOBER
STS MARY & AMBROSE CHURCH, POTTSVILLE SCHOOL FAMILY/ PARISH MASS CELEBRATION 7:30AM
We hope to see many St Ambrose families at this Mass celebration. At this Mass celebration staff from St Ambrose will be attending to the ministry duties and there will be children’s liturgy.
Sacrament of Confirmation
Last Friday evening Bishop Gregory Homeming celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation with 78 students across our Parish Schools. This was a tremendous celebration with many families and friends attending.
Thank you to the Year 3 teachers for their hard work in preparing our students for this Sacrament.
Tweed Yr 6 Catholic Schools Mass
Students from all local Tweed Catholic Schools came together to celebrate a Mass at The Sacred Heart Church, Murwillumbah.
Our Yr 6 students attended and had the opportunity to participate in a concert and meet and mix with students from other schools
Family Groups
Fr Ray Sanchez, a dedicated member of the Passionist Family Group Movement, is visiting our parish for the whole weekend on 15-16th October. He will be celebrating at the Parish/School Masses and sharing with us the joy and sense of belonging that can be experienced through being part of a Family Group.
After the 9.00am Kingscliff Mass, there will be a morning tea, hosted by the existing Family Groups. Stay for a presentation in the Church from Fr Ray after morning tea if you can.
Through the interaction within your Family Group you will find you are bringing a happy, loving spirit to your parish community. Children will feel they belong to a large extended family and will learn loving and caring from the examples of others.
This was how the Church first began
This is what it can be now

Sports
On Friday 9th September, Aila and Mason in Year 6 travelled to Glendale, New Castle to represent the Lismore Diocese at the NSW Combined Primary Schools Polding selection trials. The weather started off with a heavy downpour of rain but turned to clear sunshine mid-morning which allowed for a great day of competition. Aila and Mason represented St Ambrose with great sportsmanship and tremendous athleticism.
Aila and Mason both successfully gained placings on the day and will now head to Sydney Olympic Park to compete at the NSW PSSA Athletics Championships on Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th October. A huge congratulations to both Aila and Mason.
