Principal Message
Dear Families,
This Saturday night is our MOVIE NIGHT! Please refer to the flyers attached. This is shaping up to be a wonderful family night. I look forward to seeing you there! This week we had students from Yr 5 visit the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and Yr 1 had some wildlife visitors. It was lovely to hear such glowing reports about our Yr 5 students and the way in which they behaved and represented our school - Well done and thank you!
This week we have had a "blitz" on school uniforms. Please ensure that your child comes to school in their correct uniform, in particular shoes and hair ties. In walking around the classrooms it is such a delight to see the students of the school engaging in meaningful learning and challenging themselves to be better. The classrooms are vibrant and reflect contemporary strategies. The teachers work extremely hard in developing teaching programs that are personalised and meet the needs of all students. A BIG thank you to those families who made time to meet with your child's teacher for the Student Led Conferences. I am always keen to receive feedback, if you would like to make a comment about this process please do not hesitate to contact me or send me an email.
Finally a reminder regarding the "Tell Them From Me" survey. If you can spare 20 min to complete this survey it would be greatly appreciated.
Hope you have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes,
Brian Laybutt

TELL THEM FROM ME SURVEY
As you are aware, over the coming weeks we are inviting students, teachers and parents to provide feedback on their experience of our school using an online survey. The surveys are an important part of our whole school evaluation and planning process.
We would like to invite you to complete the Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Partners in Learning survey. As we value the role of parents and carers within our school community we would greatly appreciate your feedback. The information you provide will be used to maintain our commitment to working together in partnership to further improve student learning and wellbeing at St Ambrose.
The survey is anonymous and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. You are able to access the parent survey on your computer or mobile device by using the URL below:
School Planning & Organisation for 2023
Is your child returning? It is the time of the year we begin planning classes and staffing for 2023. To assist with preparation, we need to know who is NOT returning to St Ambrose next year. Information is sought for any student who will not be returning in 2023.
Please email the school ASAP to advise us of your plans and details on sapot@lism.cathollic.edu.au or contact us on (02) 6676 0099.

Year 1 Incursion
Can you name three differences between snakes and lizards? Year 1 students can! (Hint: it has something to do with their eyes, hearing and tongue)
On Thursday, we had a fascinating visit from The Wildlife Twins. We were able to see, touch and learn about a range of reptiles including a blue tongue lizard, bearded dragon, black-headed python, green diamond python and a lace monitor. We couldn’t believe how smooth the scales felt. The highlight for many of us were the magnificent dingoes! We compared how they are similar and different to a dog. We now have a new love of reptiles and dingoes and can’t wait to write about them.
Year 4 Podcast
This term Year 4 has been learning about information texts. As part of our English and Geography units, we have created a podcast called ‘Travels of Year 4’. Each week a team of students work together to write, record, and edit each podcast. Our first episode was released last week and we are hoping to release episode 2 today. Each week we share tips, tricks, and facts about traveling in Australia. Sometimes we share bad dad jokes that our dads tell us on long road trips and holiday stories that have gone wrong. Each week we have a special guest from the school that we interview. This week’s episode will have Mr Laybutt and you hear some key essentials not to forget when going on a family holiday. You can find our podcast on Sound Cloudor by using the QR code below. Don’t forget to follow us to keep up to date with our latest episodes.
Sports
Elective Sport
In Term 4 students in Years 3-6 will be able to select a sports elective to focus on for 5 weeks during Term 4.
Sports Electives commence Monday 24 October Week 3 and run for 5 weeks (21st November - Week 7). An email has been sent out via compass for students to choose up to 5 different preferences. The portal to select preferences will close 23rd of August. Students and parents will find out their selected sport by the end of Term 3. Payment, waivers, and permission notes will need to be finalised before confirming your place in the elective.
Wellbeing
St Ambrose Wellbeing Programs term 3 & 4
We are in the process of finalising the wellbeing programs based on parental expression of interest and teacher recommendations. Please keep a lookout on Compass for program information and consent for students that will be sent out shortly.
