    Farewell Mr Cenda

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our music teacher Mr Cenda. As well as the wonderful classroom music Mr Cenda also directs the St Ambrose Senior & Junior Choirs, Drum Line, Rock band and oversees the tutors and instrumental program. The students at St Ambrose really love going to Mr Cenda's music classes, enjoying exciting lessons and activities taught by someone who cares for each child. Mr Cenda has supported our students, staff, and community in so many ways over the years. When I think of what makes this school a special place, it is people like Robby Cenda who come to mind. He has been a friend, colleague and leader in our school and community and his presence will be missed. Simply, Mr Cenda brought music to life and made it fun! I know you join us in wishing him well in this next stage, we hope it is filled with good health, happiness and many joyful moments. Thank you for everything, Mr Cenda!
There’s no one quite like a special teacher, and no teacher quite as special as you. Thank you for everything, your legacy will remain with us!

    AFTERNOON PICK UP

The school's Pick Up and Drop Off Zone is designed for your convenience and for your child’s safety. Designed for quick entry and exit, these zones minimise congestion and risk when used properly by all parents and carers. These zones operate under the same conditions as no parking zones, which means you may stop to drop off or pick up children for a maximum of 2 minutes. You're required to remain in, or within 3 metres of, your vehicle. Days and hours of operation may apply to some zones.

Those vehicles that arrive before 3.00 p.m. and wait for children in the Pick Up and Drop Off Zone are not only in breach of the law (this carries 2 demerit points and a $171 fine) but it defeats the purpose of the zone. Those vehicles that arrive before 3.00 p.m. are in effect clogging up the road in Charles St which prevents cars from entering the car park.

As cars cannot enter the car park, some drivers, rather than wait in line, are overtaking the queue of cars. This is extremely dangerous and compromising for students and other drivers (as they are overtaking on a pedestrian crossing this carries a $352 fine and 6 demerit points).

Whilst the parking situation is far from perfect we are endeavouring to provide a safe environment for all children. For this to happen we need motorists to be patient, understanding, and importantly follow the rules.
    Some simple rules to follow:

    1. Do not park in the Pick Up and Drop off zone before 3.00 p.m.
    2. If you arrive before 3.00 p.m. please use the car park.
    3. Under NO circumstances is it safe to overtake cars on Charles St - no matter what the reason.
4 Be Patient - simple logic will tell you that not all students can be picked up from the Pick Up and Drop Off Zone at 3.05 p.m.
    5. The bell sounds at 3.05 p.m. The first children arrive at the pick up zone at approx 3.08. The last student is picked up - no later than 3.20 p.m. All cars and students are cleared from the school in approximately 12 minutes!
    6. Rather than queue for the Pick Up Zone, arrive at the school at 3.10 p.m. and avoid the rush. Your child is safe and will be supervised!

    Thanks for your understanding.

    Principal

Saint Mary of The Cross Mackillop

Monday 8th August marks the anniversary of the death of Mary Mackillop and the Feast Day of Australi's first Saint. Although her death occurred more than a century ago, she continues to inspire men, women and children. Saint Mary Mackillop was a co-founder of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart and was a tireless advocate of education and schools.

Saint Mary had a vision of a better world for all. With patience, a forgiving heart, and trust in God, she managed to overcome whatever obstacles that came her way.

    School News

On Thursday 4th August, Kindergarten reached a once in a lifetime milestone – 100 days of school!  On this very special day, they made a crown, ate many delicious foods including a sausage sizzle, a delicious piece of cake and made 100 biscuits! The students collected and played with 100 things, and wrote about what they would do if they were 100! All students were encouraged to come to school dressed as a person who is 100 years old. All students as well as Mrs Cain and Miss Dicker did not disappoint with so many amazing OLD costumes. They all looked absolutely fantastic! We had lots of fun. It was a fantastic day enjoyed by all.

    Tell Them From Me Survey

As you are aware, over the coming weeks we are inviting students, teachers and parents to provide feedback on their experience of our school using an online survey. The surveys are an important part of our whole school evaluation and planning process.

We would like to invite you to complete the Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Partners in Learning survey. As we value the role of parents and carers within our school community we would greatly appreciate your feedback. The information you provide will be used to maintain our commitment to working together in partnership to further improve student learning and wellbeing at St Ambrose.

The survey is anonymous and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. You are able to access the parent survey on your computer or mobile device by using the URL below:

    Netball Gala Day
The sun was shining for the yearly Netball Gala day at Arkinstall Park. A big congratulations to all students who represented St Ambrose on the day. We saw some incredible netball skills from all students. From students who play every weekend to players new to the game. It was great to see our students being very courageous!

A huge thank you to all the parents who assisted with coaching, umpiring, and cheering on the day. Without your support, we wouldn’t have been able to participate.

Maybe one day we will have students playing for the Thunderbirds or Sydney Swifts!
