Newsletter Week 7, Term 2 2022
Principal Message
Dear Families,
Great to have some beautiful clear days although the mornings have been a little fresh!! As per last week's newsletter, girls can wear black tights and long pants for boys are available through the uniform shop. A reminder that all classrooms are heated and once they get into the rooms all students will be warm.
A few reminders about students arriving late to school. We have a steady stream of students who arrive late each day. Could you please ensure that all children arrive at school no later than 8.50 a.m? It is advisable that students arrive at school between 8.30 - 8.45 a.m. This allows the child the opportunity to put their bag on the bag racks, interact with their peers prior to entering the class and prepare and settle into the school day. Note that children who arrive prior to 8.30 a.m are not allowed to play and must remain seated until a teacher comes on duty at 8.30 a.m.
At the moment there is a considerable amount of illness around - COVID, Flu, etc. If your child is sick please keep them at home. Currently, we have a number of staff who are also unwell and this has created significant issues in trying to find relief teachers. Please be aware that if a class teacher is away and we are unable to find a relief teacher, students from that class may need to be spread out across all classes for the day. While we try desperately to avoid this, unfortunately, due to illness and teacher shortages we may have no alternative.
Monday 20th June is our School Athletics Carnival and this will be run at the school. A program will be sent out shortly - let's all hope for a fine day!!
Thank you for supporting your child with their public speaking - for many children (adults) public speaking is a very daunting task, but it is also a very important skill. While students have different levels of competency in this area, a reminder that at all times students at the school are encouraged and supported by the teachers. Finals will be held Tuesday 21st June - details to follow.
A big thank you to those parents in Year 4 who have coordinated the Pie Drive - your hard work and efforts are greatly appreciated.
Hopefully, you will get to enjoy the upcoming long weekend!
Regards,
Brian Laybutt

Mini Vinnies
Mini Vinnies are volunteers from Years 5 and 6 who get together to help those in need within their school community. Mini Vinnies introduces children to social justice issues, to the St Vincent de Paul Society and to living faith through action. The group meets regularly and sets goals on what they want to do and achieve. The group is responsible for the organisation of fundraising events at school for our local community.
At Mass this week the Mini Vinnies badges were blessed and students said their pledge. It was wonderful to have the local conference members from St Vincent de Paul with us to encourage and support our wonderful Mini Vinnies students. We are all very proud of these student volunteers who are currently organising the Winter Appeal at school for those who are less fortunate in our community. Each classroom has a basket for donations to be collected. We greatly appreciate your support with helping those in need.
This Sunday 12th June the Church celebrates the Most Holy Trinity.
Trinity Sunday is the first Sunday after Pentecost to honour the Holy Trinity—the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
‘The God of Love and Peace be with you!’
One God, three persons united in a constant flow of love and tenderness! On this feast of the Most Holy Trinity, we are all invited to be drawn deeper into the rhythm of this eternal dance of love.

NSWPSSA HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIPS
Last week, Eve Trimboli and Miss Dicker traveled to Tamworth to represent Polding at the Girls NSWPSSA Hockey Championships. This was the first time in NSWPSSA history that four championships were held at the one time! Both Boy's and Girl's Hockey and Basketball were played over the week. Eve was one of thirteen players in the Polding team who were from the Diocese of Armidale, Bathurst, Broken Bay, Lismore, Maitland/Newcastle, and Wilcannia/Forbes.
Eve had a tremendous week of hockey! Eve played her position of striker extremely well and had many skillful and quick breakaways up and down the sidelines. Eve scored a cracker of a goal against North West which secured Polding the win! Eve was very unlucky not to have scored more goals over the week but the level of goalkeeping was outstanding during the championships. Polding finished third in their pool and fifth overall. If you wish to watch any games from last week please go onto the School Sport Unit - Youtube or School Sport Unit - Facebook page.
Polding were in Pool A and played a total of 6 games. The results were:
Day 1 - Game 1: Polding vs Riverina 4 - 0 (win)
Game 2: Polding vs South Coast 0 - 1 (loss)
Day 2 - Game 1: Polding vs CIS 1-1 (draw)
Game 2: Polding vs North West 1 - 0 (win)
Day 3 - Game 1: Polding vs North Coast 0 - 0 (draw)
Game 2: Polding vs Western 1 - 1 (draw)
Day 4 - Finals - Polding vs Sydney North 2 - 0 (win)
I congratulate Eve on playing at PSSA Level and I am sure that the satisfaction that comes from competing to the best of your ability will be something that will remain with you for many years to come.
Annika Dicker. - Polding Girls Hockey Manager.
