STUDENT BIRTHDAYS
A number of parents are sending birthday invitations into the class teacher and asking them to hand them out. Unfortunately this places the teacher in a very awkward position, as the children often interpret this as though the teacher is doing the invitations. I would ask that in future parent's do this in a subtle way either before or after school. As you can imagine, it is very disappointing for children if they see others getting an invitation if they don't!
LOST PROPERTY
Our lost property bins are overflowing. 99% of items have no names on them, obviously, it is impossible to find the owners. Please label all clothing.

The Last Supper - Year 4 Brunch
Last Tuesay as an entry event in their Religious Education unit of work, ‘The Eucharist’ the Year 4 students celebrated a meal together in connection to the scripture story of The Last Supper.
This unit develops students’ understanding of the celebration of the Eucharist. The unit focuses on the key parts of the Mass and explores the ways Christ is present.
After their shared meal the students returned to class and began to write up what they know about the Eucharist and what they want to learn about the Eucharist, this was a great activity to launch into their learning.

GRIP Leadership Conference
On Friday the 20th of May, our school leaders attended a GRIP Leadership Conference in Twin Towns. After a long bus ride, the leaders made their way up to the Twin Towns spacious auditorium to prepare for session one: Stepping Up To Leadership. After a couple of fun leadership games, our leaders listened to a lecture on how to step up as a leader from different members of the GRIP Team. They then enjoyed their morning break in the Stars Room. In session two, our leaders learnt to step up integrity, complete with group activities and a hilarious roleplay. In between sessions, they also enjoyed an entertaining game of Loud Noises with rounds including guess the noise and audience karaoke. Next, they listened to a talk on a new standard of ideas. They then brainstormed ways they could contribute to their school. At 12:30 they had lunch in the Star's Room before moving on to the final session; raising the standards of teamwork. Then the GRIP Team held a Q&A session where they learnt the meaning of GRIP; Generosity, Responsibility, Integrity and People. Next we left on the bus and had a relaxing trip back to school.

Catholic InterSchools ESports Competition
With ESports taking the world by storm, St Ambrose were very excited to enter a team into the inaugural Catholic InterSchools ESports Competition. Comprising teams across the Diocese, The mighty St Ambrose Gamers comprising Mason, Nick, Mako and Jarrah from year 6 had to bring their A Game for 8 races of tight Mario Karting.
Utilising the Nintendo Switch, our kids used the secure network to remotely enter a safe and secure room where schools competed against one another and battled banana peels, rockets and the dreaded red shell heat seeking missiles.
Coming away with the respectable 3 St Ambrose can't wait for Term 3 when the battle will truly heat up with the first Inter-School Just Dance Battle.

StreetSmarts AFLQ Schools Cup
We wish the 16 students attending the StreetSmarts AFLQ Schools Cup at the Cavanbah Centre in Byron Bay on Tuesday 31st May all the best. This competition was open to students who play AFL for a local club on weekends and was a chance for them to play in a combined St Ambrose team.
A huge thank you once again to Emma Starr-Web for offering to help coach on the day and take several students to the game. Also a big thank you to all the other parents who are attending and helping to get students to and from the ground safely. The team who is competing in the boys division consisted of a mix of boys and girls from year 4, 5 and 6. We look forward to hearing how you go.

The Winter Appeal
St Vincent de Paul works really hard to provide emergency accommodation, meals and everyday essentials to people in need. We want to show care and hope for these people too.
This year the Mini Vinnies group is asking all families to donate clean blankets and toiletries to show our compassion. For the next month, we are collecting soap, body wash, tissues, toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser, deodorant, socks and blankets. The Mini Vinnies will then create care packs to be distributed by the St Vincent de Paul volunteers. Each classroom has a basket for donations to be collected. We appreciate your support.
Let's Look in the Lunchbox
This week we have two colourful bento boxes that include foods from each of the food groups. They focus on finger foods that are quick and easy to eat before they go out and play.
